Opening Reception: Friday, June 10, 5 – 8 pm, CGIS Knafel, Fisher Family Commons
Through the work of more than 30 artists from Iran and Afghanistan, From Voices Unheard questions what role the artist plays in social change. From the mimetic to the metaphoric, this exhibition highlights the everyday experiences of women, children, and minorities vis-a-vis portraiture, still life, and photography/digital art. Spectators will be asked to interrogate the circuity of gaze both outwardly looking and internally focused as they navigate the gallery, vacillating between the contrasting perspectives. Join us on Friday, June 10, 5 – 8 pm, for a reception showcasing this art, sponsored through the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard University and Touch Art Gallery. Light food and drink will be served.
