Since September 2022, people of Iran have been engaged in a socio-political movement that aims to bring about democracy and secularism to the country. At the forefront of this movement are women who in the past 44 years have been disempowered, disenfranchised and humiliated as second-class citizens. Now, however, women of Iran have developed an intense sense of citizenship and demand their various democratic rights and freedom. They have expressed their demands in various artistic forms such as music, cinema and painting. This exhibition provides a channel for a group of female artists in Iran to share their concerns, frustrations, aspirations and demand for empowerment.
